Getting Started

  1. 1 Go to the Lockage listing on the Shopify App Store and click Install.
  2. 2 You'll be redirected to your Shopify admin to approve the required permissions. Click Install app.
  3. 3 Lockage opens automatically. Configure your age restriction settings.
  4. 4 Go to Online Store → Themes → Customise → App embeds, enable Lockage, and save.

The most common cause is that the app embed hasn't been enabled in your theme.

  1. 1 In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. 2 Click Customise on your active theme.
  3. 3 Click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece) in the left sidebar.
  4. 4 Find Lockage and toggle it on. Click Save.

If it still doesn't appear, check that your age restriction is enabled and has at least one product, collection, or vendor targeted (or is set to site-wide).

  1. 1 In Lockage, set the restriction mode to Specific products instead of Site-wide.
  2. 2 Use the product picker to select individual products, or choose by collection or vendor.
  3. 3 Save. Only the selected items will show the age gate — the rest of your store remains open.

Product-level targeting is available on the Pro plan.

  1. 1 In the Lockage settings, go to the Appearance section.
  2. 2 Select Custom image as the background type.
  3. 3 Upload your image (recommended: 1920×1080px, JPG or PNG).
  4. 4 Save to see it applied to the age gate.

Custom background images are available on the Pro plan.

Billing

Lockage uses Shopify's built-in billing. Your Pro subscription charge appears on your regular Shopify invoice — no separate payment method needed. You can upgrade or cancel at any time from the Settings page inside the app.

Your configuration is preserved. If you downgrade to Free, the age gate will revert to site-wide only — product-level restrictions will be inactive until you upgrade again. If you uninstall the app entirely, your data is deleted within 30 days.
